Half a century after the Turkish invasion in Cyprus and the occupation of the northeastern part of the island (20.07.1974), the TV series Famagusta, with frequent flashbacks to the day of the disaster, show the lives of Cypriots who experienced the tragic events, left their homes and live today in the free part of the island. The script is a combination of fiction and true stories.

Maria Farantouri lends her voice for the first time to a TV production, interpreting the title song I don’t forget (The Missing Man). The lyricist is inspired by the symbolic phrase “I do not forget” – a slogan created on the morning of 14 August 1974, the day of the second Turkish invasion. Since then, it has passed into the collective unconscious of Greek Cypriots and all Greeks in general.
