The Passions of the Moon

LEGEND 2201 150642 (2002)

Live recording of a concert given at the Athens Concert Hall in 1996 as a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the birth of Federico Garcia Lorca. A trilogy dedicated to the work of the Spanish poet and intellectual, whom the Greeks loved and sang as their own.

The album includes the songs from the theatrical play Blood Wedding, adapted in Greek by Nikos Gatsos and set to music by Manos Hadzidakis, the Canciones Populares -Spanish traditional songs, which Lorca had arranged for voice and piano adding his own poetry- and the Romancero Gitano adapted in Greek by Odysseas Elytis and set to music by Mikis Theodorakis.

The production was directed by Theodoros Terzopoulos. Featuring Spanish choreographer and dancer Ramón Oller.
