Force six winds in the waters between the islands of Delos and Mykonos forced a change of plans for a concert scheduled to take place at the archaeological site of Delos. As a result, Greek and international audience enjoyed Maria Farantouri at the stone theatre in Mykonos Town, where she performed a selection from her rich repertoire. Songs by Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hadzidakis, Dionyssis Savvopoulos, Stavros Xarchakos, and other Greek composers transported both locals and visitors through Greek time with Maria Farantouri’s iconic voice, which bridged eras, opening a window to the future.

Maria Farantouri and Manolis Mitsias perform songs by renowned Greek composers and poets on Sunday, June 21, World Music Day, at the historic site of the Old Fortress in Corfu. A magnificent concert production dedicated to the artists who shaped modern Greek musical history.

The event’s charitable nature adds special significance, as all proceeds from the concert will be donated to support the Corfu Orphanage and the soup kitchen of the Holy Church of St. John in Mantouki.
