Maria Farantouri performs the work of Mikis Theodorakis and Iakovos Kambanellis as part of the 4-day Word and Art event, organized by the Municipality of Agios Nikolaos, commemorating the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The evening begins with speeches and presentations:

– Demetris Koussouris, Historian-Researcher, National Hellenic Research Foundation | History & Resistance: Treasures Without a Name
– Sabiha Suleyman, Women’s Association of Drosero, Xanthi | The extermination of Roma by the Nazis and the ongoing struggle for their rights
– Myron Xydakis, Historian | The intellectual Resistance during the Occupation and visions for the future
– Yannis Stathas, Mayor of Distomo, Boeotia & Vice-President of the Network of Martyr Cities and Villages of Greece | Greek Holocausts

The concert will be introduced by philologist Heleni Kostaki | Contribution to the preservation of memory: I. Kambanellis and M. Theodorakis
