The article refers to Negrika – poems by Leopold Sedar Senghor, first President of Senegal, set to music by Mikis Theodorakis, originally performed by Maria Farantouri in her CD Asmata.

Theodorakis is highlighted, here, thanks to Maria Farantouri’s top performance, thanks to the creation of a wonderful link between the melodic power and the powerful lyricism of Senghor.
