Maria Farantouri meets the Athens State Orchestra (KOA), in the ensemble’s first appearance at the Cultural & Conference Centre of Herakleion, conducted by internationally renowned maestro Myron Michaelidis.

The great Greek performer, whose voice is associated more than any other with the work of Mikis Theodorakis, will perform his iconic and beloved songs, orchestrated by Antonis Sousamoglou and Lazaros Tsavdaridis.

The audience will have the opportunity to listen to the symphonic suite Greek Carnival, in which the composer attempted for the first time to “dress” modern Greek melodies and dances with symphonic orchestral colours. It is a musical tribute, full of memories and emotion, to the 100th anniversary of the birth of the great Greek composer.
